Social Media Mega Project - Facebook
A few months ago, may be 6 or 7, my long time friend Di (Diana) invited me to join something called Facebook.com
I did try to enter it immediately, out of respect and love for her, but since I didn't have some kind of a special e-mail account it didn't let me "join". (I wasn't too disappointed, I may say, as wasn't up to another time-sucker at that highly busy time....
)
I obviously had never heard of Facebook or any of the other media sites until that moment and had no clue of all the potential Treasures this 'place' held!
A few more weeks went pass and I got another invitation to Join Facebook, don't quite recall if Di was the initiator again or somebody else....I think it was her....
This time, at registration, It did accept my non-US, non-Canada, non-UK or whatever else non-Country my e-mail address belonged to.... the restrictions were lifted and so my Southern-Hemisphere, Island-Downunder account was accepted and I was in.....
WOW!!!! That was an Exciting, very exciting time to say the least!!!!! I never had imagined such a "thing", such a "place" existed!!! This was "My thing", "My kind of a place"!!! At last!!!
I love my friends and family and I have oh, so many of those, scattered in all the possible countries you can think of and of all the possible colors you can imagine!!!
However, these people I once shared things, key moments of my life with, seemed to have "disappeared" somewhere in this place called Planet Earth....They married, changed names, moved, then moved again, I moved, then moved again and again and again....we kind of lost a track of one another's physical location and with that we lost track of each other's lives....
However, none of those people ever got out of my heart....I remember them all and here, in this "place", called Facebook I could find them or they could find me, after all these years...(well....still quite a few have been 'not-found' but I believe it is only a matter of time and of timing...)
For example:
- My loooooooooonnnnnnngggggggg lost friend Maryam, in who's house we got engaged 13 years ago, found me! She also got married some time after I had left Bulgaria for Argentina. All I knew was she was in US somewhere, but did not have a clue of what her new name was or any other thing!!! Now I can see her lovely smile again and her gorgeous children and family!!!
- Zehra, another long lost friend, we did so many travels and projects with together in Bulgaria ,also found me and it was a double blessing 'coz she had married another friend from that time Veggih who had been like a brother to, me in spite of the language barrier we had at the time...Vegih and I were communicating mostly heart to heart rather than by using our broken English (as my Turkish, as well as his Bulgarian was near Nil
) So, Zehra and Vegih had married and I could even see pictures of their beautiful daughter!!!
-------------
Now, as this exciting experiences were still fresh in my heart I "met" Vivien. She was talking about a Web-wide Social Media Project she was Inspired to put together....
I met Vivien and InspirationBit while searching the web for 'stuff' that could relate to my new project InspiringWear. I was very attracted to her insight, depth, creativity, simplicity in that very genius kind of a way, at first glance ...
This is the first time I have even heard of this kind of Projects going on the Internet....so being me, just jumped in...
So, please Help us make this project a success! Read bellow and give us your experience!
-----------------
There are quite a few Media Sites that are being covered in this Global project and I invite you to share your experiences with Facebook with the World.
Here are the Rules and Conditions Vivien (InspirationBit) has put together for us all:
This Social Media Mega Project is spread over several blogs. All hosting blogs will start and end their projects at the same time:
- Start Date: Monday, January 21st
- End Date: Friday, February 22nd
- Results Publication Date: Monday, February 25th
- Final Collaborative Results will be published on Inspiration Bit on Friday, February 29th
Each of the partnering bloggers announces their projects for the chosen social media site(s) on January 21, and the following rules apply for the project participants:
- Write a post on your blog and share with us how do you integrate this social media site Facebook.com into your blogging, work, tell us about your good or bad experience, how would you compare this social networking site with others, what do you like or don’t like about it, how did you benefit from becoming a frequent user of this site, what secrets have you learned about it, what tips or warnings would you like to inform others about?
- Contact me InspiringWear with your name, email and a permalink to your post. If you don’t have your own blog, you can always write a guest post on my blog, or simply send me your thoughts by contacting me in person.
- Once we collect the links from all participants and publish them on our blog, you can write another post and link to either all or only your favorite articles by other bloggers.
- You are allowed to contribute only one article per project/site. You are more than welcome to visit other participating blogs that host projects dedicated to the different social media sites and take part in those projects by submitting your articles about other social networking sites.
Other Media Sites and their amazing, dedicated hosts (please contribute if you can)
(Clicking on the Social Media Site will take you to the Blog's link that is hosting it so you can contribute. Everyone is looking forward to your input
)

Hi Ina. Well, that wasn't so scary, was it - to host a project on your blog?
Well done! Good luck with the project. Look forward to seeing the results!!
Btw, to find out what is the permalink (address) of your article, you can simply click on your post title, and it will take you to another page just with that post, that's where you'll see the address of the page in your browser's location bar above.

Thank you so much for the post Jacob!
I will publish it.
Regarding the track back's I have been swamped with pornographic site track backs and have been deleting them all....Will look for your one and approve it specifically. Sorry about that! Just some patience

Jacob, can you pls try and link again to me and send something to me so I know you have. I am not sure how to handle all those people from inappropriate sites and have banned their IP's as well. Checked if might have done it with you but don't think is the case. Sorry, this is a new territory for me and would take some time to master (the blogs, websites and all)

It's ok, Ina. I just tried linking to you again, the trackback should appear anytime in the next few seconds.

It's not personal. The spammers send their garbage to everyone, A LOT. WordPress users are well-protected with SpamKarma2 (like me) and Akismet, find out what you can do for your blog.

Wow! Thank you Jeremy! This is a great article! It is always a balance game, life that is.... great to keep on the side at times and great to take the plunge and get wet at another...
Thanks for putting so much thought into it and I think lots of people can relate to what you have written. Even non-adictive personalities like myself can relate too because it's always simpler to convert into a looker and not an active participant....it is our society sickness if I may say. Great job! thanks again!
